Job Description

Al-Falah School (AFS), operated by the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) Canada, is seeking a dedicated and qualified Health & Physical Education Teacher to provide high-quality instruction and promote physical wellness among students in alignment with Islamic values. The ideal candidate is passionate about fitness and youth development, and will play a key role in fostering an active and balanced school culture. The teacher will report directly to the Principal.

We offer a salary ranging from $45,000 to $50,000 per year along with standard benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

● Deliver engaging Health & Phys-Ed lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum

● Develop clear lesson plans with defined learning outcomes

● Support school-wide wellness initiatives and fitness programming

● Organize and lead intra- and inter-school sports tournaments and events

● Supervise and coach student sports teams and extracurricular athletic activities

● Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive character through athletics

● Collaborate with staff to integrate physical activity into daily school life

● Contribute to Islamic programming where applicable (e.g., adab in sports)

● Maintain a safe, respectful, and structured learning environment

● Participate in school events, PD sessions, and staff meetings

● Support student growth through assessment, progress reports, and parent engagement

● Fulfill supervisory and additional responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferably from a Canadian university).

● Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation is preferred.

● Certification or demonstrated experience in coaching sports or leading physical education activities is highly desirable.

● Strong verbal and written communication skills.

● Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.

● Strong classroom management skills to maintain a productive and respectful learning environment.

● Ability to handle confidential information securely and professionally.

● Highly organized and capable of multitasking in a dynamic school setting.

● Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

● Experience in delivering differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

● Canadian citizenship or permanent residency is required.
