What Is UmmahX

In a world where divisions seem more pronounced than ever, the idea behind UmmahX is to reinforce the concept of a united Muslim community. It serves as a reminder that we are individuals but part of a single, interconnected Ummah. The theme encourages all participants to recognize the importance of raising the next generation with a clear understanding of their shared identity and the responsibility to become an even more unified ummah.

UmmahX is about acknowledging our current state of disconnected unity and inspiring hope and action toward a more unified future. By coming together at this convention, we aim to foster a sense of belonging and commitment among all attendees, emphasizing that despite our diverse backgrounds and experiences, we share a common goal: to nurture and develop a cohesive and resilient Muslim Ummah for the future.

The theme, “UmmahX,” was chosen to bring together the diverse tapestry of Canadian Muslims, including the immigrant diaspora and all generational segments—Millennials, Baby Boomers, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha. We selected the word “Ummah” because it is deeply rooted in our faith. Allah refers to us as one Ummah in the Quran, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) consistently emphasized this unity in his teachings.

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:143): “And thus We have made you a just community (Ummah) that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you…”

Narrated by Abu Musa (RA): “A believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts support each other.” — Sahih Bukhari (481) and Sahih Muslim (2585)
