Imam, Community builder, HCI Strategic Relations Advisor and Mentor
Imam Dr. Zijad Delic is a religious authority on Islam and an academic. He studied in Bosnia, Kosovo, Pakistan, the USA and Canada. He served the Muslim community in Bosnia, Croatia and Canada.
He published papers, reports and articles and appeared on national TV as a regular guest. Imam Dr. Delic presented on Islam, Religion, Education, Family/marriage/youth mentorship and counselling, Leadership, Western Muslims, Integration, Identity, Multiculturalism, Interculturalism and Citizenship in Europe, the U.S., Australia and Canada.
His book “Islam in the West: Beyond Integration” is an amazing contribution to understanding Canadian Muslims and Canadian expression of Islam. His present research focuses on the topic of A Sociological Examination of the Institution of Imam in Canada: The Reconstruction of Islamic Authority and Authenticity.
He works closely with Academia, Educational institutions, Policy makers, Social Services, Interfaith and humanitarian groups, Governmental agencies, correctional institutions, Canadian legal system, etc. He is known as a bridge-builder between different faith groups. He is also known as People’s Imam for his communal engagements and spiritual mentorship and counselling. He was selected twice as one of the 500 most influential Muslims in the world; awarded by the Province of Ontario for a decade of volunteer work as well as receiving in 2013 the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, Canada 150s Ontario Provincial and Federal Awards in 2017.
He lives with his family in Ottawa…and he is a grandbabo of an amazing 20-month-old grandson Zayn…
